*Romeo Gigli has joined the ranks of Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana in putting his name to a place where the beautiful people can see and be seen – and even eat. Gigli inaugurated the cafĂ©, which will be home to a different cultural event each month, with the staging of his spring/summer 2008 collection.

*The make-up artist supreme, Pat McGrath, fell victim to every traveller's worst nightmare upon arriving in Milan this week. Ten suitcases were held up in customs, sending members of her team scouring Milan for emergency replacement products, which cost £6,000.Luckily, her first major make-up job was the Dolce & Gabbana boys' D&G collection – the clothes were inspired by Glastonbury and the look was "natural, glowing, with no mascara and a hint of gloss on the cheeks and lips".
